History of the monastery of the Order of the bare Carmelites

Known in those days, the Kiev voivode and political figure Janush Tishkevich became the founder of this huge fortress. The idea of creating such an object came to him after the deadly captivity, from which he managed to escape by a miracle. The fact is that Janusz did not even hope for life, being in captivity. One night he was visited by monks who prayed for his safe return to their native land. After a dream, Tishkevich took an oath that when he freed himself, he would certainly raise the temple of God.

The road along Lublin became a sign of God for a former prisoner, for he saw those same monks who wanted his release. They were the monks of the Order of the Barefoot Carmelites. In 1630, Janusz transferred the fortress as a gift to these saints, and after a while the construction of the monastery began. 1642 was the beginning of life for the monastery, at the same time Tishkevich brought as a gift the icon of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Despite the numerous devastation and fire during the Second World War, the monastery was amenable to permanent reconstruction. To date, not only the appearance of the building, but also the interior decoration has been preserved.
