Sculpture of the Mermaid, Miskhor
The sculpture was performed by the famous Estonian sculptor Amandus Adamson, who was treated in Miskhor in the last century. He was touched to the depths of his soul by the local story about a mermaid named Arza. They say that on the day she was about to marry, the evil old Ali Baba kidnapped Arza and the Turkish sultan bought her in his harem. After a while she gave birth to a son, but this did not bring her any relief, and one day she rushed to the deep sea from the tower of the palace, taking her son with her. Many say that near the shore of the sea you can see the ghost of a mermaid with a baby in her arms.
This work of art is considered one of the best incarnations of this legend, similar there are in Copenhagen and Warsaw.
