Ancient settlement of Yeni-Dunya

Ancient fortress of Eni-Dunja is the most important historical place of archeological excavation, discovered in the 20th century and studied by scientists to this day. Interesting relics were found near the medieval Turkish settlement known as "Hajibey". Here, from the 14th century, the Turkish port was located (on the site of modern Odessa) - the central trade point of Turkey with neighboring empires.

The Yeni Dunya hillfort is the most important historical site of archaeological excavations discovered in the 20th century and studied by scientists to this day. Interesting relics were found near the medieval Turkish settlement known as "Hajibey". Here, from the 14th century, the Turkish port (on the site of modern Odessa) was the central Turkish outletwith neighboring empires.

Given the popularity of the port, Hajibey was often attacked by the belligerent powers, as a result of which the fortress castle of Yeni-Dunya (in translation from the Turkish "New World") was built in 1764. It was a small town with a own infrastructure, water supply and a large number of land. High walls and observation towers allowed the sentinel to survey tens of kilometers around. But already in 1789 he was captured by Russian troops, significantly damaging the construction of the fortress.

Over the years, the stone structure was dismantled for various construction needs residents of neighboring villages. By the middle of the 20th century there were only episodesof Eni-Dunia, which you can see by visiting the site of ancient settlement near the town of Yuzhny (Odessa region).
