From the history of the cathedral it is known that it was rebuilt five times after destructive fires. According to the chronicles, the first wooden church of the Resurrection of Christ was built on the site of the present cathedral in 1549. It burned down in the late 17th century. Subsequently, churches were re-erected here, but they were destroyed by fires.

The stone Holy Resurrection Cathedral, which reached our times, was erected in the late 19th century. It can accommodate 400 congregations at the same time. The church survived the revolution, the war, did not touch it during the Soviet era, when atheism dominated. In 1988, to the anniversary dates - the 1000th anniversary of the Baptism of Rus and the 110th anniversary of the restoration of the cathedral - it was restored outside and inside. In 2005-2007, the cathedral was re-painted by Lutsk icon-painters.

Holy Resurrection Cathedral in Kovel is an architectural monument.
