The U.S. Selected Its Most Beautiful Dog
the most beautiful dog in the U.S. became a miniature affenpincher named Banana-Jo. This title was awarded to him at an event held during the 137th Westminster Kennel Club International Exhibition.
A nine-year-old black male with a monkey-like face was recognized as the best in his category and then defeated seven other finalists. These competitors included an American foxhound, a Bolognese Bizone Friese, a German hard-coated pointer, a Portuguese water dog, a Foxterrier, and a Bobtail.
Banana-Jo won over the audience with his enthusiastic performances, earning thunderous applause every time he appeared on stage. The second place was taken by a Bobtail named Bugabu.
In total, 2,700 dogs of 190 different breeds—both decorative and utility—participated in this competition.
The international dog beauty contest held within the Westminster Kennel Club exhibition is the oldest of its kind.
