Every year in the UK, 60 children are born with growth issues. Three-quarters of them have parents of average height.

A young woman stood just 84 cm tall and admitted she would have done anything to give birth to her child. Her daughter, Kyrsten, weighed 2 kg at birth and was only 35.5 cm tall—almost half her mother's height. Kyrsten's father, Jeremy, is 193 cm tall.

This rare genetic disorder caused Kristyn to become a dwarf, although some of her bones were the same size as those of women her age. Her internal organs were also normal-sized.

Doctors feared that carrying a baby in her tiny body could be fatal for both her and the child, but she ignored their warnings and took the risk anyway.

Pregnancy terrified every woman, but for Kristyn, it was especially daunting because of her size. Doctors were concerned that the growing fetus would crush her heart and lungs. They warned her that the pregnancy could not last more than 30 weeks to give both a chance of survival. But at 28, 30, 32, and 34 weeks, Kristyn gave birth six weeks early—just in time.

When she saw her daughter for the first time, Kristyn was overwhelmed with emotion. Kyrsten was tiny, but also incredibly beautiful. Now Kristyn and Jeremy had a real family.

Two years after Kyrsten was born, they were living together with Kristyn's parents in a suburb of Seattle. They had met in school and started dating four years earlier.

Even though Jeremy could now handle the attention from passersby, Kristyn still found it difficult to accept her shorter leg. It made walking hard for her, so she often let Jeremy carry her, which drew even more attention. This frustrated her, because inside, she was a completely normal person who wanted a normal life.

With a height of just 84 cm, raising a child was no easy task. Feeding, burping, and changing diapers became daily challenges. But nothing compared to the joy of watching her baby grow.
