Many people remember Balian Bushbaum from his past life as Ivonne Bushbaum, a young woman at that time. In 2008, Ivonne—a talented German gymnast specializing in pole vaulting—decided to change her gender identity. Ivonne Bushbaum was born in 1980 in Ulm, Germany. At the age of 18, she completed basic military training and began her remarkable sports career, specializing in pole vaulting. From 1998 to 2007, she achieved great success in various competitions, including world and European championships as well as the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney.

Her achievements include third place at the 1998 European Championships and again in 2002; second place at the 2002 European Indoor Championships; and sixth place at the 2000 Sydney Olympics.

Ivonne’s personal best was set in June 2003 in her hometown of Ulm, with a height of 4.70 meters.

In November 2007, Ivonne announced that she would retire from competitive sports due to numerous injuries. However, the real reason for her decision was her revelation that she was transgender and had chosen to change her gender identity. This came as a shock to many of her fans and supporters.After starting hormone therapy and undergoing gender-reassignment surgery, Ivonne officially changed her gender in 2008 and adopted the name Balian Bushbaum.

On her official website, Balian expresses his deep gratitude to his supporters for their encouragement and the countless letters they sent him. He says that their emotional support helped him through a difficult period in his life and that he is now completely happy with his new identity.

Balian enjoys posing for photographers, and his public appearances often feature him in almost naked photos. After retiring from sports, Balian found a new hobby in motorcycle riding. As a man, he rides much faster than when he was a woman, and he also notes that the female perspective is often more compassionate, as Ivonne used to always try to help others.He acknowledges that a woman’s thoughts can be quite elaborate and rich, enough to fill the minds of three men.Today, Balian is much more confident and independent, and he enjoys living freely without relying on他人 opinions.
