“The House of the Golden Fish,” also known as the second house adorned with chimeras, is located at 4 Grabovskiy Street. The architect of this building, constructed in the 1910s, was A.M. Ginzburg. This renowned engineer from Kharkiv was one of the first to use reinforced concrete structures in construction. He concealed these structures beneath sculptures of fish. The upper part of the facade is adorned with numerous David stars. On the ground floor, there was a shop selling fish, while the rest of the building housed Ginzburg’s construction firm, named “Reinforced Concrete.” The building is designed in the Art Nouveau style and features numerous sculptures of fish, tritons, and salamanders. It is commonly referred to as “The House of the Golden Fish” – a name that is well-deserved, especially since in the 1970s, a pool with the simple name “Golden Fish” was located on the premises.
