The sight of the small village of Kukolniki in the Ivano-Frankivsk region is the old abandoned church named after St. John - one of the 12 apostles, the author of the Gospel of John, the Book of Trees and the Three Epistles, which are included in the New Testament.

The question of the date of construction of the temple is still unanswered. Some sources call 1732 the date of the foundation of the church, others - 1722 year. The cult construction appeared due to the money investments of Archbishop J. Skarbenka from Lviv and the famous commander N. Pototsky.

The architecture of the church refers to the Baroque style, the main feature of which is massive, monumental dimensions. The huge, powerful walls are decorated with large windows with bars, dubbed pilasters, relief projections stretching along the whole building, and a curly structure on the roof. The facade contains an arched entrance and two statues. Earlier, the church housed a miraculous cross, moved here from the Kukolnitsky castle.

After the Second World War in 1945, the temple was closed. Left unattended, the attraction gradually fell into decay. To this day, the church remains abandoned and significantly destroyed.
