Nikolaevsky Monastery, Town

The Nikolaev Monastery is on an oval, elevated island on the Ustye River in the village of Gorodok. From the monastery is a bridge, located in the western part of the island, surrounded by an old park.

The story of the village started back in the middle of the 15th century. The monastery here appeared thanks to the owner of this settlement - Princess Anastasia Olshanskaya, who donated her estate with the castle of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra. Relatives Princess not only were not against such a gift, but also in every way contributed to the upsetting of the nunnery.

One ancient tradition is connected with these places. It says that once there was an ancient temple that completely entered the ground when these places were captured by the Tatar horde. In due course, where the church stood, a healing source was opened. And in memory of a temple that entered the ground near this place, a new church was built.

The Nikolaev Monastery is visited not only for the sake of an interesting excursion to ancient places, but also for finding peace of mind. These unique places among the tranquil flow of the Ustye river attract with their natural beauty and unique architecture inscribed in the landscape. Next to the ancient buildings are modern buildings. There is also a park fountain, as well as a huge number of flower beds with various colors.
