An unusual gray stone building in the Art Nouveau style in the city center Sarny is the Church of the Transfiguration of the Lord. It was laid in 1936 in place of the old wooden church that had become dilapidated by this time. The appearance of this sanctuary is directly related to the students of the Jagiellonian University of Krakow. They created a temple project, and also donated all necessary finances for its construction.

Inthe process of erecting the church was intervened by local authorities. They believed that it would be enough for the faithful to have the main building of the church, so the bell tower remained unfinished. In those days, the Poles did not voluntarily leave Sarny, so in 1945 the last rector of the church, Jan Leninsky, was forced to leave.

The temple for its history was used for different purposes. The priest's house was converted into a military registration and enlistment office, later civil defense courses and motorists were organized in this building. For a long time, the building of the church itself was used as a grocery store. Only in 1991 the Transfiguration church was returned to its parishioners. A in 1995, the restored image of the Mother of God of Ostrobraska was returned to the temple, then the first mass was performed at the repaired Catholic shrine.
