Tatar Tower, Ostrog
The Tatar tower in Ostroh refers to the preserved part of the formerurbanfortification. It was here that prisoners were detained during the battle. The fortress complex dates back to the Middle Ages. The main enemy of the local population were the enemy regiments of the Tatars. Many of them were wounded in battles or trapped around the city, then they were taken prisoner and placed in one of the towers of the fortress. Later, the fortress began to be called the Tatar by nationalitycaptives.
The tower of the Ostroh Fortress served as an entrance gate and was the main pass to the interior of the city. Now it is difficult to imagine the general construction of a medieval building, the building is almost completelydestroyed, is not guarded by anybody and has never recognized renovations. The ruins of the surviving tower can be viewed freely accessible from all sides.
Nearby is another famous building of the same era - Tarakanovsky fort.It retains much more load-bearing structures, you can find it in Dubno.
