St. Kazan Cathedral in Chyhyryn
Works on the construction of the temple were conducted solely on the donations of sailors who returned after the service in their hometown. The St. Kazan Cathedral was an excellent example of architecture.
The temple had a majestic appearance. It was decorated with two brilliant domes and a bell tower. Two-tier belfry, containing sixteen bells, each of which had its own size and characteristic sound. The vaults and walls of the church housed icons and iconostasis, which tell of the lives of saints. The walls of the temple were made of bricks (painted in light color), which contrasted with light green domes decorated with golden stars.
The cathedral was destroyed and dismantled during the religious persecution of the Bolsheviks in 1934. The restoration of the church was completed in 2004 with the money of patrons. The services in the cathedral began in 2007 after his consecration by Metropolitan Safronii.
