Spassky Church, Vladimirovka

The Church of the Most Gracious Savior is located in the former estate of Natalia, once owned by the famous sugar maker Pavel Ivanovich Kharitonenko (1852-1914). The territory of the estate is recognized as a monument of landscape art of the late 19th century, there are about 100 plant species, many of which are exotic. Among the surviving buildings of the estate, the Church of the Savior is of special interest.

Among the surviving structures of the estate, the Church of the Savior is of special interest.

At one time, Pavel Kharitonov was a great connoisseur of art, he possessed unique collections, in particular a magnificent collection of ancient icons. In his opinion, the best place for storing icons was to become a church. The project was designed by a young and talented architect Alexei Shchusev, the construction was started in 1911, and already in 1913 the church was consecrated in the name of the All-Merciful Savior. At the same time, his daughter Natalya's wedding with Prince MK Gorchakov was held.

For the construction of the temple, a brick was used with subsequent lining treated with limestone. The decoration of the exterior walls was done by famous sculptors(ST Konenkov and others) and marble workers from the Vagankovo ​​cemetery. The western pediment of the church is decorated with the canvas "Transfiguration" carved in stone surrounded by floral ornamentation, and the central entrance is decorated with 24 sockets with the image of saints. The mosaic image of the Savior Almighty above the entrance door, according to experts, can belong to the work of N. K. Roerich. The rich church utensils and rare icons after the revolution were taken from the "Natalyevka" for storage to various museums, and the church was closed. Non-purpose use of the temple led to the loss of the internal painting of the walls, made in the style of Old Russian painting.

Today the church is open to the parishioners, again the word of God is heard in the walls. The wonderful nature of the park beckons to people who want to relax among the picturesque nature. The manor "Natalyevka" is located in the village of Vladimirovka, Kharkov region.
