Holy Protection Monastery is the heart of Kharkov, one of its main architectural shrines. The foundation date of the monastery is 1726 year. He received his name from the church of the Intercession of the Most Holy Theotokos, which is considered to be the oldest stone building in Kharkov and the crown of Ukrainian architecture of the 17th century.

He received his name from the church of the Intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, which is considered the oldest stone structure of Kharkov and the crown of Ukrainian architecture of the 17th century.

Visitors get the impression that the temple, located in a picturesque corner, hovers over the valley of the Lopan and Kharkiv rivers. In the courtyard of the complex, buried in greenery, you can see monuments established for the 200th anniversary of the founding of the Kharkov diocese and in honor of the 2000th anniversary of the Nativity of Christ. They appeared after the reconstruction of the complex of the Intercession Monastery. With unique exhibits that tell about the history of the diocese, one can get acquainted with the church-historical museum. At the moment on the territory of the monastery complex there is a theological seminary and diocesan administration.

The main shrine of the monastery was considered to be the Ozeran Icon of the Mother of God, which protected the city of Kharkov and the entire Sloboda Ukraine. However, in the 30s of the last century it was lost. Already in our time, it was possible to restore the true image, now it is located on the territory of the monastery complex in Krestovozdvizhensky temple. The icon continues to miraculously heal parishioners.
