Bakota
Once in the 13th century Bakota was an important political and administrative center of the Lower Dniester. Then the village occupied about 10 hectares and lived in it more than two thousand people. But in 1981, during the construction of the Novodnestrovskaya HPP only chronicle mentions, a rock monastery and unique landscapes were left from the village- exactly what is now attracting travelers and tourists to this area.
In the translation, the word "Bakota" means "desired place". Finally, everyone who comes here can be convinced of this. The first thing that attracts in Bakot is landscapes. Narrow pathways, a pretty water reservoir, steep slopes and pure spring water. In addition, there is a unique rock monastery and an unusual church.
According to legend, the Bakotsky monastery was laid by the Monk Anthony, who founded the Antony Caves in Chernigov and the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra. True, until our days of all cells and tombs, only a few caves have been preserved, one of which houses the old church. On religious holidays, here and nowadays, divine services are held, to which residents come from all around. And not far from this cave on the southern wall of the monastery you can find an old inscription "Bless Christ the Gregory Abbot, who gave power to Saint Michael." Researchers date these lines in the 11th century.
Visit the monastery and touch the real story. To get to this place, you must first take a bus or a taxi to the village of Grushki. And then - walk on foot about five kilometers. After passing the village of Grushka, turn right and get to the signpost - "camp to the right, monastery to the left." If you have enough time, you can go to the camp, where you can relax, swim and, having gained strength, go to the monastery. Otherwise, immediately turn left and you will reach the destination.
