History of the Kurisov Palace

Now the Kurisov Palace is an architectural monument of national importance, and earlier it was a unique building of the patrimonial estate of Lieutenant-Colonel Ivan Onufrievich Kuris. The estate was not built immediately. In the 1810s-1820s, its eastern wing was designed, and in the years 1891-1892 - the main part of the building. The palace was completed after the death of its first owner. The author of the project was the outstanding Russian-Polish architect Nikolai Konstantinovich Tolvinsky.

Architecture of the Kurisov Palace

The architectural composition of the palace ensemble embodies the Moorish style with elements of Gothic. This type of structure contrasted sharply with other ancient buildings that were erected at that time in Ukraine. The building material for the Kurisov Palace was a rock-shell, which was also an external decoration for the walls. The form of the structure also differs sharply from the classical style, since it lacks symmetry. In addition, the palace Kurisov was divided into small parts, which differed in the number of floors. There were several small terraces and one common semi-circular shape. You can get to it by climbing the winding staircase.

Moorish architectural style provides a variety of shapes of windows, which you can see for yourself. The brightest detail of the old part of the building, and the entire Kuris palace, is an octagonal tower that resembles a minaret. It rises high above the building, that allows to see the estate itself from afar. In the new part of the building there was a big hall for receiving guests, holding balls and celebrating various celebrations. Its feature was that the main lighting came through the roof. Supported the ceiling on the columns with a primitive Corinthian warrant, which was decorated with alfraic paintings. This spoke of the birth of romanticism in the architectural stylistics of the buildings of Ukraine in the 19th century. From both sides of the palace Kurisov was decorated with one-story arcades.

Against the backdrop of this unique building, you can get great pictures.
