Mount Stoy (Stee)
Mount Stoy & ndash; the most mysterious peak of Transcarpathian mountain ranges. Its height is 1681 meters above sea level, which is the highest valueof the whole Borzhava mountain complex. There are forest tracts of fir and beech, spruce, limestone beds, valleys of grasses, rocky cliffs. But the famous mountain is Stoy (the locals call it in Ukrainian "Stie"), their interesting past.
On the gentle top of the mountain towered quite unusual structures of spherical shape, attracting the attention of tourists, strolling along the mountain sightseeing routes. Twenty years ago this peak was completely inaccessible for inspection and its slopes were under serious military protection. There are two huge white balls & ndash; these are radar stations developed during the Soviet Union.
The station operated in the mid-80s of the 20th century. Here was the whole military secret city, whose destroyed episodes can be freely observed, reaching the top of Mount Stoj. In abandoned buildings, you can see the military unit from the hangars for equipment, command post, barracks, boxes and so on & ndash; 14 official objects with underground bins and radar stations. All this is in the public domain for all comers, unfortunately, in disassembled condition.
