On January 29, 1994, Evgeny Leonov passed away—his heart stopped beating. That evening, a performance of "Memorial Prayer" with Leonov in the lead role was scheduled at the Lenkom Theater. When the audience was informed that the show would not take place due to the actor's death, not one of them returned their tickets. People brought candles from nearby churches, and they spent the entire evening standing by the theater with them. Thousands of people attended the funeral of this great actor.
