Museum of the brown bear, Manyava

The ecologist Nikolai Mikhailovich Skidanyuk, who is concerned about the threat of the final disappearance of the brown bear, initiated the creation of such an unusual museum in Manyava village. strong>from the Carpathian forests. He states that only 4 beasts live on the lands of Bogorodchansky and Solotvynsky forestries. Live Carpathian brown bears for about 8 years, and the norm should survive to at least 30.

In our country, a brown bear is found only in the Carpathians. According to the workers of the Carpathian Biosphere Reserve, in 2005 there were about 200 animals. As a species that is endangered, the brown bear is listed in the Red Book. That is why the youth public agency Our Home - Manyava, together with the program "Protect the Bear in the Ukrainian Carpathians", carried out with the financial assistance of the Netherlands representation in Ukraine, considered it our duty to create the first museum of the bear in the country. His goal is educational activities, and efforts are aimed at saving the brown bear in the Carpathians.

In small rooms of this unusual institution, more than 80 exhibits are collected, each of them gives an occasion to recall a mighty beast. The main object of the museum is an effigy of a real brown bear. And still here there are souvenirs, children's toys, Hutsul tiles with the image of the owner of the forest, a lot of interesting knickknacks, etc.

An integral part of the exposition is an exhibition of paintings and photographs. The museum has a small library with local history, thematic and scientific literature. Everything concerns the life of a bear, in particular, Carpathian. There are also seminars and guided tours.
