Watch tower, Cossack

Near the village of Cossack, which is located on the right bank of the Dnieper River in the Kherson region, there is a watch tower. Its construction dates back to the 80s of the 19th century. Presumably, the first tower on this site was erected during the period of the principality of Great Vitovt at the end of the 14th century.

At that time, the border of the Lithuanian state passed here. Then, probably, the tower was used as a defensive structure.

The tower presented today stands on the ruins of the old. It was built as a water tower for water supply in the estate of Prince Trubetskoy. Soon there was a fourth tier with semicircular windows, characteristic pseudo-gothic style.

The tower is on a flat terrain by the road. It is made of rough stone. Well visible is the boundary between its constituent tiers. The walls of the tower are in the open, because the structure is not covered with a roof.

It is convenient to drive up to the sights from the city New Kakhovka. To date, the watch tower is indilapidated and not used.
