How to survive the heat: Unusual methods
Those living in apartment buildings with prefabricated concrete structures face particular difficulties. This is because the light-colored concrete used in their construction heats up extremely quickly, subjecting all residents to intense heat.
How can one cope with such extreme heat indoors? Most of us resort to the most obvious methods. We take showers frequently and open all the windows to create a draft. However, few of us consider whether these methods are actually effective. Today, we’ll offer some useful and more efficient tips on how to manage the heat in urban apartments.

1. Drink water properly in hot weather. Sweet soda drinks will not help quench your thirst; it’s better to consume natural beverages, especially during extreme heat. Remember: on very hot days, you should drink at least 1.5 to 3 liters of water per day.
2. Avoid taking cold showers immediately after returning home in hot weather. This puts a heavy strain on your heart and circulatory system. Instead, take a warm shower first and gradually reduce the water temperature as you continue.
3. Use air conditioning wisely during summer heat. Never set the air conditioner below 18–20 degrees Celsius, as this increases the risk of catching a cold rather than providing relief from the heat.
4>Minimize the use of hair styling products. About 80% of the body’s heat is lost through the head, so avoid using hairsprays, gels, and other styling products in hot weather. The fewer substances on your hair, the easier it will be for your body to cool down.

5>Consider getting a shorter haircut or tying your hair back to keep the back of your head and neck exposed. This helps release excess heat. With long hair in extreme summer heat, your body has difficulty dissipating heat effectively.
6>Use two fans in your apartment, operating them in different directions.
7>Placing bowls of water around the room can also help reduce the heat. Using both fans and water bowls together will create a more effective cooling effect.
8>Special window films that reflect sunlight can also lower indoor temperatures significantly. However, this may require an investment. If not feasible, regular aluminum foil can also work. Consider the color of your curtains too: dark colors absorb heat, while light colors reflect it.
These simple tips can be very helpful in managing the heat during summer!
