Rukumysh Caves
On the south side of the village of Rukumys, it is difficult not to notice the travertine cliffs of 20 meters high - these are the Rushma caves. At the bend of the river, lime blocks rise, creating a surprisingly beautiful landscape. The frame for such a picturesque picture was created by nature itself from small waterfalls, the streams of which run along the rocks and flow into the creek. And today you can see two caves, once chosen by people.
Local residents, remembering the 40s of the last century, say that the villagers have often hid in these rocks from the enemy.
The base of the cave complex was the Church of the Holy Sepulcher. For him in the 13th century, the Kiev monks chose a large cave and expanded it to the right size. Near the cave temple there are several small cells made by the hands of a man.
In the second half of the 18th century, Onufrievskaya church was erected at the foot of the cliff of the ball, in which still remains the sculpture of St. Onufry, made of wood by the outstanding sculptor I. Pinzel.
