Kremenets Botanical Garden
The broker and the Austrian biologist V. Besser set about planting a 4.5 hectare plot of land allocated for the Kremenets Higher Gymnasium, local and exotic plants. Then the territory of the park was adjacent to the buildings of the educational institution. After 5 years from the foundation of the garden, the number of plantings was no less than 12 thousand.
After the end of the Polish rebellion, which was approved and picked up by the lyceum students, namely from 1832 to 1834, the gymnasium along with the botanical garden was disbanded. A large number of valuable plants were transported to Kiev and given to the St. Vladimir University, which became the base for the creation of their own park. The former botanical garden began to function as a park zone. In 1990, it was decided to restore the garden.
Already more than 200 years, this botanical garden is an independent scientific centerdealing with the introduction and adaptation of foreign plants to a new habitat.
