Vikentiy Khvoika is the discoverer of the Trypillian culture in the Kyiv region. It was during the excavations on the Cyril heights that he discovered the first bones of the mammoth, followed by evidence of the presence of ancient people in the local places. Thus, the Kirillov Paleolithic site, which existed about 20 thousand years ago, was discovered.

Later, the researcher discovered the first cultural monuments near the village of Tripolye. The finds served as the opening of a new archaeological culture - Trypillian. Hvoyka stirred up the whole world, after all the Sumerian civilization was considered the oldest until this time.

His contribution to the history and culture of Ukraine is truly great. In addition to the Trypillian culture, he also discovered the Chernyakhov culture. He also studied the Scythian and early Slavonic cultures.

Vikenty Khvoika was one of the founders of the Kyiv City Museum of Antiquities and Arts- the modern National Museum of Ukrainian History. Thanks to his work, the once poor local history museum Tripoli gained fame.

Today one of the streets of the capital is named after him, and on the facade of house number 9 on Igorevskaya street, in which he lived and worked, a memorial plaque was opened.
