Austrian fort
The remains of the fortification are located in the vicinity of the Bryukhovych Forestry, not far from the cemetery. The beginning of the construction of this fort is attributed to the end of the 19th century. He was built to protect the borders of the Austro-Hungarian Empire from encroachments on Russia's aggressive policy. Having occupied an advantageous position on the Zyavlenskaya mountain, from here you can clearly see the surroundings for many kilometers. But, in spite of reliable defensive fortifications, the Bryukhovychi Fort did not take an active part in the fighting. The fact is that during the construction period he managed to lose his defensive importance. Since the beginning of the 20th century, the military began using tactics of shooting from closed positions, and the fort could easily be fired from guns.
Today, only the ruins on the hill are reminiscent of the old times. From the Austrian fort there were several tunnels with small "windows" that served for combat purposes. But from the top of the hill there is still an excellent view of the nearby valleys.
