Cossack Church, Pereyaslav-Khmelnitsky
The wooden church named after John the Theologian is a fine example of the church architecture of the people of Ukraine. The temple is the most ancient temple ofPereyaslav-Khmelnitsky. The church is located on the territory of the local museum of folk architecture and life. Originally, the temple was located in the village of Ostryki. From there he was transported to the territory of the modern museum.
The church was recreated in its original form, around it is an imitation of a small Cossack cemetery. The entrance to the temple is dotted with many stone crosses. Near the church is a multi-tiered bell tower. It was built in the 18th century, before it was located in the village of Bushevo. The main decoration of the bell tower is the church bell, its weight reaches 25 tons.
Also noteworthy is another wooden church - Pokrovka, which is located nearby. It was built in the 18th century in the village of Sukhoi Yar. During the Soviet period there was a museum of atheism.
