The Church of the Mother of God (Bratslav)
The Church of the Mother of God is a unique Catholic church in the city of Bratslav. The first wooden church was built here in 1540, but after 12 years during the raid of the Tatars it was destroyed. In the sixties of the 17th century, thanks to the efforts of the entire community of the city, the construction of a new church was started, under the patronage of the Virgin. Later, there appears a unique miraculous icon of the Mother of God of St. Scapular. The construction of the marble church lasted more than 100 years and was completed in 1865.
The temple was closed in the 1930s, but again became operational during the German occupation. After the war, the church again closed its doors for the parishioners, then the local house of culture settled down, this continued until 1990. Duringthe independence, the temple was renovated.
Now the Church of the Mother of God is the spiritual center for all Catholics of the city of Bratslav and Vinnytsia region.
