Manor von Meckov (Tchaikovsky Museum)
Manor von Meckov - one of the main attractions of a small town Brailov. A neat house-palace in a restrained classical stylewas laid long before the arrival of the family of Karl von Mecca in the township town. His famous estate he bought in 1868 from a local landowner. Near the big house was an impressive park, which later acquired the features of a real piece of landscape art thanks to the German wife - Nadezhda.
She spent a lot of time building the estate, was able to refine a large park, create in it classical ponds with elegant bridges. One of her many hobbies was music and theater. Acquainted with the living legend of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, Nadezhda invited him several times to the estate, while she and her husband left the country. Tchaikovsky always agreed and stayed a couple of times in the house, continuing to create his own immortal works here.
In recent years the von Meckov manor performs several functions at once. First of all, in one of its parts is the museum of a famous musician. In it, guests can see the preserved furniture and household items, which were donated by the descendants of the family of a German industrialist. All the sofa upholstery, fabrics and interior are original, they were only slightly restored by the museum staff.
In the other wing of the house there are training halls of the city lyceum. Townspeople and tourists are very fond of visiting the private park. Well maintained alleys, picturesque landscapes and mesmerizing ponds always remain popular, despite the passage of time. By the way, nearby is located a magnificent Trinity church of the beginning of the 19th century, which should certainly be seen.
