National Museum-Estate of Nikolai Pirogov

An outstanding scientist and brilliant surgeon Nikolai Ivanovich Pirogov made an invaluable contribution to the development of medicine. His scientific works in the field of medicine are still relevant, he is rightly considered the founder of military field surgery, where the applied innovations of Pirogov saved many lives. For outstanding services of Nikolai Pirogov September 9, 1947, a museum was opened in the former manor of the scientist, which he acquired in 1859, working in Kiev as a trustee of the Kiev military district.

For outstanding services of Nikolai Pirogov , September 9, 1947, a museum was opened in the former manor of the scientist, which he acquired in 1859, working in Kiev as a trustee of the Kiev Military District. Here he lived for the last 20 years, where, thanks to his efforts, a wonderful park was laid out. To this day, preserved some trees, planted personally by Nikolai Ivanovich.

On the territory of the museum complex is the house where N. Pirogov lived.Now here is a museum exposition telling about the life and work of the great scientist. The pharmacy, which he created in 1870 on the territory of his estate, was resumed. In the museum-pharmacy various pharmacy utensils are presented, the reception and operating room of N. Pirogov with the use of plastic figures was recreated.

Near the estate there is a church-tomb of NI Pirogov, built in 1885 and consecrated in honor of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker. After death, the scientist's body was embalmed and placed in a crypt located in the church. The tomb is available for inspection.

A person's life is assessed by his actions. What was done by N.I. Pirogov throughout his life, was appreciated by grateful descendants. The museum is the training base of the Vinnytsia Medical Institute, and since 1997 has the status of the National.

There is a museum-estate in Vinnitsa on Pirogov street, 155 and is open for visiting from 9:00 to 17:30 every day, except Monday.
