Unusual monuments of Kharkov

Monument to the chimney sweep

Walking along the street past the former brewery, you can say hello to the real chimneysweep. The figure of the pipe cleaner appeared in the city quite recently, a couple of years ago.

The chimney-sweeper seems to greet everyone who passes by: in his hand everyone will see a cylinder shot in a welcoming gesture.

At the enterprise, whose facade is adorned with this extraordinary sculpture, they promise that soon a ladder will be erected for the chimney-sweeper to be planted & raquo; cat. And below, the worker will wait for a bicycle with tools.

Monument to the ears

Perhaps no more in any city you will see how in the middle of the street grew two ears the size of a human growth. And, if you look closely, you can see that both ears & hellip; right.

Townspeople claim that at one time ears were part of the whole composition, but later were for some reason separated from it and installed as a separate monument.

There is a belief that the ears have a direct connection with God, so whispering their most secret desires to the ears come and locals and visitors to the city.

Monument to a Bicyclist

In Kharkov, recently there was a tragic case: the driver hit a bicyclist. As a sign of sorrow, local cyclists decided to install a monument on the site of the road accident. The author of the sculpture was Alexander Ridny.

Monument to the student-programmer

Monument to Three Monkeys

Old city residents say that during the years of the occupation of Kharkov, the zoo was destroyed in the city. Some of the animals died, while the rest fled in search of food. "Three monkeys, holding each other as members of one friendly family, found shelter within the walls of the building of Gazprom."

In memory of these animals and in honor of residents who saved zoo dwellers during difficult war years, a monument to three monkeys was opened on the territory of the Kharkiv zoo.

Monument to the Lovers

To create an exposition among the students of the Faculty of Architecture, a competition was held. The winning sculpture did not immediately find an understanding of connoisseurs of urban art. But soon the figures of naked young bodies became familiar, and until recently, under the arch formed by the kissing girl and boy, the lovers met.

More recently, figures of lovers have concluded in a kind of ring of fountains. Such measures the city authorities were forced to accept because the figures were repeatedly subjected to acts of vandalism.
