The Three-Sainted Church (Gol'bergovskaya)
One of the most beautiful churches in Kharkiv b was laid in1906on means of the chairman of the Kharkov merchant society of Gregory Holbergovskyand his wife Maria. The architect of the temple - Mikhail Lovtsov, the creator of the Annunciation Cathedral. The choice of the name for the church was influenced by the coincidence of the name of Holberg himself and his two brothers - Vasily and Ivan - with the names of the saints especially venerated in Kharkov: Basil the Great, Gregory the Theologian and John Chrysostom. The church was decided to give the name of the Three-Saints in honor of the three saints.
More than 2 million bricks were used for the construction of the temple, the construction cost 200,000 rublesand lasted for 8 years. The interior decoration of the shrine is striking: the iconostasis was made in Italyby special order of the architect. Over the painting of the church for two years worked a student I. Repin and V. Serov - a talented painter from Petersburg Alexei Sokolov.
After the Revolution, the church overtook the sad fate - it opened a church property warehouse, so it continued until 1925.
Now the temple is very popular both among tourists and among the citizens of Kharkiv.
