Odessa Art Museum
In the spacious mansion of the first half of the 19th century the Odessa Art Museum is located - briefly OXM. The building was erected in the traditions of Russian classicism.
The era of romanticism also found its embodiment: under the central part of the body is a man-made grotto with an artificial waterfall. From it lead underground galleries, which had access to a large garden by the sea.
First, the mansion belonged to the Countess Olga Naryshkina (in her maiden name - Pototskaya). Then it was bought by the mayor of Odessa G. Marazli. This philanthropist passed the building to the city under the Museum of Fine Arts. It was opened in 1899.
In the museum you can admire the canvases of the famous seascapes painter Aivazovsky, get acquainted with the creativity of the Wanderers - Savrasov, Levitan, Repin, Shishkin, Kuindzhi, Surikov. Impress the pictures of the great masters of the brush - Vrubel and Roerich. A fresh trend of our time - in the department of contemporary art.
The hall of arts and crafts represents the national creativity of Ukraine: embroidery, ceramics, woodcarving, glass.
On Tuesdays in the museum a day off. Branch of OXM - Ananiev Art Museum.
