Everything changed when on the banks of the river Uzh started building the hotel "Crown" and the theater. In 1911 in the "Crown" for the first time there were screenings. In those days the square was called "New Square ". Its current name was given in honor of the opening of the theater, which was held in 1920 with the premiere of Natalka Poltavka.

Once there was a beautiful large fountain, but it was dismantled in the 60-70s of the last century. For what reason such a decision was made, no one can say for sure. In addition to the fountain, the Honor Board was built on the territory of the square, photos of honorable citizens were posted on it.

Now you can see a big stage on the square where various events, celebrations and concerts take place. Here you will see a monument to Roshkovich. On the other bank of the river Uzh there is a music and drama theater capable of accommodating 815 people.

Near the puppet theater stands the former building of one of the largest in Europe orthodox synagogues, built here in 1904. It is here that you can see one of the best organs in Ukraine with three keyboards and 2250 pipes. The building of the synagogue now houses the Philharmonic.

One of the first children's railways with a length of 1.5 km and the local park named after Eugene Fentzik are located very close by. He was a local poet and playwright. Also close to the pedestrian bridge, which was transport before the war.
