The former No. 3 Model Workers’ Polyclinic (1927). Designed together with architect A.V. Linetsky; the style is decorative Art Deco.
During the difficult period of transitioning the national economy to an industrial base, a new type of medical facility was planned for this industrial area. In addition to integrating a hospital and a polyclinic, this massive structure (over 72,000 cubic meters in volume) also included facilities designed to promote public health and wellness, which held great educational significance at that time—especially considering that in the early 20th century, Kharkov had only one infectious diseases hospital with just four medical staff members.
At the center of the sprawling building’s main facade is a four-columnionic portico with rounded corners. Above it lies an attic floor featuring thematic reliefs and a dome typical of Moscow classical architecture. These elements combine to create a grand, ceremonial atmosphere reminiscent of that of a palace. The prominent ridge extending from the first floor to the top of the building contains five arches on the lower level and four columns on the upper two floors. The triangular pediment is adorned with reliefs depicting workers and women. Above this structure rises a large dome. The entire facade is reinforced by rounded, tower-like protrusions.<
<>Currently, this building houses the Second City Clinical Hospital.
