Assumption Church, Yaremche

For the first time the city of Yaremche is mentioned in the letters in 1787. According to one of the legends, the name of the city came from the name of the first settler - Hutsul Yaremi Godovanets. With the development of the railway the formation of the city began. Yaremche flourished in the late 19th century, when wealthy people from big citiesbegan to come to rest.

The low-mountain resort is located in the most beautiful place of Ukraine on the bank of the Prut River. Every year tourists come to Yaremche, wishing to enjoy the beauty of the landscapes, breathe in clean mountain air, undergo treatment in one of the local sanatoriums or inspect the numerous churches and chapels.

It is better to start an inspection of religious buildings with the Assumption Church, located in the center of the city. Also near the church there is a railway crossing. The church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin was built in 1884 from a tree and came to our days almost in its original form. The roof and the dome have undergone some changes.

Carpathians are waiting for travelers all year round, offering to go skiing or to explore local attractions. In Yaremche, you should take time to waterfalls and a huge national park, a museum of ethnography, as well as to admire Maniavsky monastery, the church of St. John the Merciful. And in the evening, try real Hutsul cuisine in a restaurant built without a single nail.
