Local History Museum, Novograd-Volynsky

The Novohrad-Volynsky Museum of Local History does not have its own premises, therefore it is placed in the House of Culture on the basis of the Museum of Military Glory. Its founder is a local resident Yefim Zagrivov, who could not accept the lack of a local history museum in his city, so he decided to take up his creation. Zagrivov collected materials about this region for 35 years and tried to convey information to all tourists and the local population about the exhibits in the museum.

In 2008, local authorities decided to give the museum a former prison facility. While in that building they intend to carry out reconstruction, and the museum of local lore was opened on the basis of another museum. After the repair, it will be moved to Freedom Street and all the exhibits that have been collected over the years will be placed there.

Now in the museum you can see different expositions, dedicated to such topics as World War II and the occupation of the city in 1941-1954, as well as the history of the city since 1257. In addition, there are old books and historical documents, there is a large collection of coins, among which are Roman coins, royal coins and money from the times of the Cossacks. A separate place is occupied by ethnographic elements and details of Polissya's life, there are embroidered towels and shirts of this region.

Now the museum works and receives visitors from Monday to Friday, weekends - Saturday and Sunday.
