Baidar Gate

Baidar Gates are built to commemorate the completion of the construction of the Sevastopol-Yalta road.

Now on this road they go only for the sake of these Baydarsky gates themselves. Baidar Gate is a mountain pass through the main range of the Crimean Mountains, leading from the Baydar Valley (often called Crimean Switzerland) to the southern coast of the Crimea. Pass Baidar Gate or simply Baydar Pass is located between Mount Chelebi (657 m) in the west and Chhu-Bair (705 m) in the east. The height of the pass is 503 meters above sea level. Until 1917 and in the 20s - 30s of the 20th century, Baidar Gate had two hotels. The first - to the left of the gate, the second - beyond the gate, to the right of them over the cliff edge. There was also a post station with a room for travelers, a separate pavilion-restaurant was built to the left of the gate. Today, the Shalash restaurant is located near the Baydar Gate. Through the pass passes the old highway Yalta - Sevastopol, built from 1837 to 1848. on the initiative of the Governor-General of the Novorossiysk Territory Count Mikhail Semenovich Vorontsov.
