Foros Park

Many exotic plants of the subtropical climate are planted here, even for Crimea. The year of laying 1834. In Forossky Park, a lot of work and money was invested by the Ushakov family (they belonged to the park at the end of the XIX century) - the initiators of the chemical industry in Russia. The park is spread over a vast territory of 70 hectares, half of which are cultural plantings. The park surprises with the variety of forms and species of trees. Today you can walk in the shade of such representatives of the subtropical flora as Alepian and Italian pines, Greek fir; various cedars: Atlas, Himalayan and Lebanese; among more than 6 types of cypresses. The park is divided into three parts according to the location on the slope: the lower (coastal zone), the middle (Paradise) and the upper (forest park). In 1889 the lower part of the park was enriched by a mansion in the style of Russian classicism. To finish were attracted better than the master. Now this building is one of the buildings of the sanatorium. In the middle of the park there is a place called the Paradise Corner onthe way there is built a cascade with six lakes and ponds, which is connected by streams into a single pond with miniature waterfalls and rapids. A little above the lakes is a grove of powerful cypresses and Lebanese cedars, reaching a height of 20 m. The park in Foros is one of the best monuments of landscape architecture in the 19th century, and is protected by law. The lower part of the park is directly the sea coast with beautiful sea views, piers, on one of them there is a sculpture of a man admiring the sea. The beach is mostly rocky and pebbly. May 29, 1960 the park was awarded the status of a monument of landscape architecture and it came under the protection of the state.
